Erika Van Pelt hails from South Kingstown, Rhode Island. While the town may be small, her sound certainly is not. Erika honed her skills as a vocalist in her teens and earned many accolades for vocal and improvisational skills in classical, jazz and contemporary music. She was a Top 10 Finalist on Season 11 of American Idol, where she earned a spot on the immensely popular 46-city worldwide tour. Erika released her debut album “My Independence” in the fall of 2013. Drawing influence from a myriad of different artists, Van Pelt has done what many artists are afraid of doing, creating an album that breaks down the boundaries of genre-specific tunes and allowing herself to express her deep appreciation of soul, rock, blues, funk, pop, indie, and even hip-hop. Her new original blues band Van Pelt-Faraday teamed Erika up with renowned Boston guitarist and songwriter Ryan Faraday. Their new album was released in the Fall of 2015.
